THE SURVIVAL OF HOPE

November PAD Challenge day 30!  Prompt “write a against all odds poem”

THE SURVIVAL OF HOPE

All hope is dwindling
in steep glissade
downward
fading
spiraling
to the
point
of no
return

yet the
survival of
hope can descend
into any valley and scale to any height
triumphs in every moment while its still kept in sight

THE TIDE OF NIGHT

November PAD Challenge:  Day 29  Prompt " write a night poem, write a day poem"

THE TIDE OF NIGHT

Sunset ripples
and the tide of night beckons
from deep
crawling shadows loom
persistent darkness
surely seeps
a rude encroachment
encompassing every hue
wishful thinking
calm creatures
embrace the morning dew

MINDLESS ABERRATIONS

November PAD Challenge  Day 25  Write a Consumption poem

MINDLESS ABERRATIONS           (consumed by anger)

Serried thoughts
of the offense at hand
sputtering hate, frenzy
detesting each demand
mindless aberrations
have set me aflame
embroiled
embittered
state of mind
definitely not the same

STORY OF THE AGES

November PAD Challenge  Day 28  Prompt  write a "blank" story poem

STORY OF THE AGES

Twas the story of the ages
of the ages untold
of ancient times, present seasons
from the scrolls unrolled
of many names, persons, places
of many kingdoms, peoples, faces
of many jots, scribbles and tittles
of many parables, rhymes and riddles
from those ancient scrolls
a story to be told
to the faint and to the bold
to the young and to the old
of archaic words sealed
of certain mysteries concealed
the truth that is to be unfolded
and the secret
to be revealed

MY LORD THE KING

November PAD Challenge Day 27 Prompt “write a tribute poem”

MY LORD THE KING

A Tribute to my Lord and King
issues from the heart as I laud and sing
of your majesty, splendor and throne set on high
of your countenance, beam, presence drawn nigh

You are the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings
yet ornately arrayed in meekness, unassuming
to your beauty we’re drawn as the fairest of the fair
the one of peerless worth, with none e’er to compare

An ineffable diamond with multifarious twists
contemplating varied facets lest some beauty is missed
allured by a dash of refracted light, magnificent gleam
appreciating the value of my Lord and King

Enduring Autumn’s Decline: The last leaf

November PAD Challenge day 18 Prompt “late poem”

Enduring Autumn’s Decline:  The last leaf

Knavish and brash
resisting this change of hue
contemplating, oppugn
from ascended view
enduring Autumns decline
perpending this relentless cascade
defiantly withstanding
was it for this I was made?
reflecting on the tree
that conceived me
of the branches that bore me
of the limbs that nurtured me
and bestowed life
of the roots that upheld me
and constantly sustained me
to bring me to this
horrid moment of truth
severed from the tide of life
broken from our organic bond
released and cast to the earth
a dried,  crumbled misery
a senseless withering away

SILENT REVELATION

November PAD Challenge  Day 17  Prompt "write a poem that reveals something"

SILENT REVELATION

The language of ten thousand words
of the eyes, countenance, gesture
demeanor, intonation, furrowed brow
are all too revealing
manifesting the unspoken realm of one's
own body language that say it all
silence still speaks
yet spoken words are but the tip of the iceberg
a fragment of the whole
of what really lies beneath the surface
of a dense decorated mask
a genuine feeling
for the mouth speaks out of
the abundance of the heart

ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS AN OLD MAN BRADY

November PAD Challenge  Day 16  Prompt  ”write a once upon a time poem”

ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS AN OLD MAN BRADY

Once upon a time
way up on Gallagher’s hill
there was an old man Brady
who lived up in his shack
where the grass was green
slim trees and yard real shady
they say he smokes a large red pipe
has rugged overalls
dingy brown hat tilted just
right so you can’t quite see him
they say no man has ever quite seen his face
but he has an ancient beard
so long that it’s hard to trace
a far-reaching beard even to
the bottom of Gallagher’s hill
so they say
yep that’s old man Brady
sometimes its hard to tell
if its fact or myth
but one day I’d like to go find
that old hill

Ain’t no love here for ya’

November PAD Challenge  Day 15  Prompt  "write a love poem and/or anti-love poem

Ain’t no love here for ya’
Listen.
We have to talk.
This is going to be tough for you, I know.
Well…There’s no sense of walking on egg shells.
Let’s just get the cat out of the bag.
The truth is I don’t love you.
I never did and never will.
So you can take that straight to the bank.
Good. I’m glad we got that worked out…
Soap Operas

VOWED LOVE

November PAD Challenge Day 15  Prompt "Two for Tuesday" Write a love poem and/or ant-love poem

VOWED LOVE

As I look and peer
into your eyes
noticing your poor
disheveled countenance
discerning the index of your eyes
as I often do
doubts arise
in genuine concern
for your beloved grandfather
who is alive but can
no longer walk and whose
health is now uncertain
sobs break forth
tears stream
in rapid succession
down each cheek
striking a painful cord
deep in my heart
bringing to remembrance that day
that sweet wedding day
I uttered those words
to cherish you always
and wipe away
each
tear...

WICKED ASSASSIN

November PAD Challenge:  Poetic Asides  Day 14  Prompt “write a deadly or dangerous poem”

WICKED ASSASSIN

Sly sniper
slithering rebel
malicious villain
encountered game
stealth move
insidious hiss
ravenous pounce
merciless kiss
ample fang’s paradise
scoundrel’s bliss

Poetic Bloomings Prompt #29  Write a love poem

Warm Ponderings

Thinking of you.
Again.
and again
and again
obsessed
with rich
warm ponderings
Still images
effortlessly flowing
to satisfy
a slowly
meditated zeal
with sex appeal
a brewed passion
steeped in desire
from the depths
well beneath
the surface
occupied by you
and you alone
you reside  in this
heart’s trenches
it’s every furrow
avenue, street
your possession
Yes, I am thinking
of you and you alone
helplessly contemplating
your chiseled
robust frame
luscious lips
dressed with want
pressed firmly
along with wandering hands
that know no limit
no boundary
gliding fingers
electric touch
dazzled spines
igniting every nerve
in rapturous fire
once again inflamed
yes, still thinking of you.
so long is a lovers wait
Hope to see you soon…

Paranormal Pandemonium

November PAD Challenge Day 8  Prompt  "Write a Paranormal & Normal poem"

Paranormal Pandemonium

What’s all the publicity about?
This paranormal pandemonium.
Ain’t worth a gander
They’re trying to pander
The people’s paranoia
Who knows
What’s para?
And what’s normal?
Don’t care.
I prefer
The normal though.

Autumn’s Piddling

Autumn’s Piddling
Inhaling
Autumn’s rustic beauty
As trees laid bare
One by one
leisurely stripped
Naked of their covering
Seemingly
At a snails piddle pace

CONFESSION

CONFESSION
Confession.
I’m addicted
Beside myself
Convoluted, conflicted
Cocked, Coiled, so eager to spring!
Ejected, projectile, still developing
Speed, wind, and a brisk bustle
To capture that prompt
For this I must hustle
Quickly descending, one thing in mind
Pounce on the manna, that prompt is mine
Salivating satisfaction as I sink my teeth
Of those play on words
When they sink beneath
Ahhhhhh…a sweet assimilation
Yes, I confess
There is an addiction.

Deprived

This poem is dedicated to the vast array of items broken in my life time including cups, mugs, bowls plates etc. R.I.P.
November PAD Challenge:  Day 5  Prompt write a broken poem

Deprived
Shattered fragments reflect the whole
Of countless shards dispersed
in utter confusion splayed
reckless, across the surfaces
Tell me how or what?
Has broken thy cohesiveness?
Pondering anew your shambles, contemplating your hopelessness
Temporarily resisting the truth
You’re forever deprived of usefulness
